Science capacity building, and science communication

I would like to initiate a discussion on the need for local communication initiatives to help build science capacity and science communciation in countries where this is lacking.

In the context of Science for Humanity, efforts could be targeted at improving the quality of science communication in national, regional and local extension services for medicine, agriculture, civic engineering, meterology, and so on.

My own initiative is the Research Cooperative (also a Ning network), and I would welcome use of the Research Cooperative website for any communication efforts that might be undertaken or supported by Science for Humanity.

Let's do what is humanly possible!

Cheers, Peter

A relevant and most needed topic to work. You can go to my website: www.scientoon.com
I am trying to bring science to common man around the world using this concept.

What I have in mind here is support for publishing projects such as a local journal on local health issues, or support for a publisher specialising in appropriate technology reports. Individual authors can already join and use the Research Cooperative to seek help with writing and publishing a particular article for any medium.
