Ecosan Wins Bill & Melinda Gates Grant.
Congratulations to Dr. Elmer Sayre of the WAND foundation in the Philippines who is the recent winner in the Bill and Melinda Gates Grand Challenge on Global Health Grant.
The grant enables scientists and researchers worldwide to explore ideas that can break the mould in how we solve persistent global health and development challenges.
Dr. Elmer Sayre will pursue an innovative global health and development research project, titled “Ecological Sanitation for the Base of the Pyramid”.
Dr. Elmer Sayre will explore how to close the loop between sanitation, health and food consumption by testing low-cost dry toilets appropriate for most conditions and using the human waste in small-scale agriculture efforts. Results and best practices will then be shared for future scale-up of the project.
This is a fantastic achievement and a great testament to all the hard work that Dr. Elmer Sayre has put into Ecosan.
